From files to finished!

SOLVE all your needs for CC Challenge B Short Story Anthology!

Homeschoolers, if you are part of a Classical Conversations Challenge B class or any other group creating a Short Story Anthology and wondering what to do, I can help you get it completely finished!

You have a ton to do, you are supposed to produce this Anthology, you want it to look like a real book, but you don’t know how to get it done? I’ll do it for you! Go from student files to finished books!

You’ll need your student files, and you’ll decide what to title the book and what image you want on the cover (I can help). You can add a class photo and description for the back of the book. From there, I will produce the books and ship them directly to you.

What you need from each student:

  • Story in any text format (Word, etc.)
  • Illustration in jpg or png format
  • Author bio in any text format (Word, etc.)
  • Author image in jpg or png format

I’ll combine the files into a formatted book interior for your approval. I’ll make a wraparound cover for you to approve. Then I’ll submit them to a print service. You get to chose how the book looks (the size, the paper weight, color or black and white, etc) and I ship you finished, professionally printed, real books for you to pass out to your students.

The cost is $220 plus the cost of the printing/shipping (very reasonable print/ship costs–for example, ten 5×8 color 100 page paperbacks were $5 each in July 2026, including shipping)

How to begin? Contact Deanna and we’ll set up a short Zoom interview. I’ll show you examples and you can go from Files to Finished!

Maybe you have one of these Frequently Asked Questions:

How long will this take? It depends on what you have ready. It can be quite fast! If all your files are complete, your images are in jpg or png format, and you are able to review and approve each stage when you receive it, we could have your books ordered within a week!
Then printing and shipping will take another ~2 weeks.
Most people need to go back to their students when we discover an image is not .jpg or .png, or need a few days to get around to reviewing the book interior or the cover, so give yourself some extra time.

What printer do you use? I want my books to look professional. I use IngramSpark, which is an industry standard print-on-demand service from which bookstores and libraries are ordering books! Authors and publishers use it and it has a good industry reputation.

What printing options will I have? You can choose the following. I have recommendations if you don’t want to pick.
– Trim Size, the size of the finished book. I recommend 5×8″ or 6×9.”
– Paperback or hardback. Paperback is more affordable. In hardback you can do dust jackets, etc.
– Color or Black and White. It isn’t very much more to get your students’ illustrations and author images done in color! I’ll send you both costs so you can decide.
– Regular or Premium paper. The regular is 50lb and the premium is 70lb. They also have creme colored 50lb paper and groundwood paper (like the thicker, grainier paper the short paperbacks in the library carousel used to have) but I don’t recommend them.
– Cover finish: Matte or Glossy. Most books use matte currently.

How can I know how much the books will cost? You won’t know the final cost until we know how many pages your Anthology is, but you can use this calculator to compare options. Try putting in 5×8 or 6×9 “trim size” (the size of the finished book) and 100 pages and see. Check if you want to get the color printing or the premium paper! Don’t forget to include shipping, it’s never free on this website.
Hate doing this stuff? You don’t have to! I’ll send you some exact costs when we know your page count!

Can we get an ebook of our anthology? If you would like one, let me know and I will make an ebook version of your cover and send you the ebook file (included in the cost)! You’ll have to “side load” it onto your Kindle or other ereader, which is easy to learn to do.

What if I can’t afford this? Do you offer a military or first responder discount? I offer a homeschool discount, in honor of my sister who is a homeschooler! This is the discounted cost, though I understand not everyone can afford to purchase a service like this. If that’s the case for you, let me encourage you–you can absolutely do this yourself! You can start with my sister’s basic info page, and there is plenty of information online. IngramSpark, the printer I use, has many helpful resources. Maybe one of your students wants to be a writer? If so, it’s a great time for them to learn some of this “back end” process!

What if I’d rather do parts of this myself? Certainly, you can! See above.

What about my students’ privacy? I don’t want this book available to the general public. I understand and will not made it available for public purchase as the standard setup. Since the author bios contain full names and images of minors, the book will not be available for distribution. You can contact me to privately order more copies.
